🐄 🧐 Mycoplasma bovis: facts, risks, and approach
Mycoplasma bovis remains a major challenge for livestock farmers worldwide — and concern continues to rise in Flanders. Many farmers know this pathogen all too well from difficult on-farm experiences.
To strengthen the sector’s response, Ghent University, Animal Health Care Flanders, Inagro, and Hooibeekhoeve have joined forces in the MycoSTOP project. The initiative focuses on developing improved testing protocols for animal purchase and disposal, and on supporting calf health monitoring using rapid thoracic ultrasound — an innovation introduced through the VLAIO PneumoNEE project.
Because misinformation and confusion around Mycoplasma bovis persist, the MycoSTOP team has summarized key facts based on the latest research.
