A team led by Prof. Dr. Bart Pardon has developed a classification system for lung ultrasonographic findings in calves, based on their association with cure rates and production outcomes.

🩺 While quick thoracic ultrasound (qTUS) has already improved on-farm detection of calf pneumonia, diagnostics are only part of the solution. To truly impact calf health, there’s a need for actionable, on-farm scoring—which led to the creation of the qTUS score. This simple tool helps monitor disease severity and treatment progress in a practical way.

📊 Recent studies show that the qTUS score is not only user-friendly, but also correlates strongly with key outcomessuch as likelihood of cure, duration of therapy, and growth performance. The score has also gained visibility through multiple presentations at the European Buiatrics Congress (EBC).
